Kitzbühel is a town in the Tirol (Tyrol) region of Austria. It is south west of Salzburg and to the south east of Söll, Ellmau and Scheffau. It is a few km north of St. Johann in Tirol. The main north - south road (161) passes to the east of Kitzbühel.
Kitzbühel is a member of “Best of the Alps - The Classic Mountain Resorts”.
Walking / Hiking in Kitzbühel
The main walking area is south-west of Kitzbühel on the Hahnenkamm and Pengelstein. Another area is north-east of Kitzbühel on the Kitzbüheler Horn. Both have Cable Cars. There are also good walks down the valley in the direction of Mittersill e.g. Bichlalm, Paß Thurn.

Skiing in Kitzbühel
The Hahnenkamm offers a large skiing area with the famous Hahnenkamm ski race. The Kitzbüheler Horn also offers some skiing. A ski bus links the skiing areas. Kitzbühel is part of the Skigebiet Kitzbühel so you can ski south from Hahnenkamm to Paß Thurn (Resterhöhe) “Ski Safari”. Since the two ski areas of Hahnenkamm / Pengelstein and Jochberg / Resterhöhe were connected in 2004 by a lift with 24 gondola, each carrying 30 people, (called 3S) it is now possible to ski back from Resterhöhe to Kitzbühel.
Kitzbühel is also part of the Kitzbüheler Alpen Ski Region.

- Hochtal Wildschönau (Niederau, Oberau, Auffach, Thierbach)
- Skigebiet Alpbachtal (Alpbach, Reith, Kramsach).

The nearest airport to Kitzbühel is Salzburg.

Rail Stations (Bahnhof)
There are two train stations in Kitzbühel. One near the Hahnenkamm cable lift and the main station to the east in the direction of the Kitzbüheler Horn.

There are a number of cable cars and chair lifts in the Kitzbühel area.
- 3S (only winter) Maximum span: 2,506.88 m; maximum height above ground: 400 m - This is the newest lift linking the two ski areas.
