Wengen is a small village in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It lies at the foot of the Eiger - Mönch - Jungfrau mountain range on a sheltered terrace facing southwest. Wengen is part of the Jungfrau region together with Interlaken, Grindelwald, Mürren, Bönigen, Ringgenberg-Goldswil, Iseltwald, Wilderswil and Lauterbrunnen. Wengen is one of the few villages in Switzerland not reached by road and apart from a few electric vehicles it is traffic free. From the valley town of Interlaken, Wengen is reached by either a 3 hour walk or by two mountain trains - there is no road connection.
